Confidential Client – Potash Export Terminal

Matrix PDM Engineering provided the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to evaluate and compare two potash export facilities including an AACE Class 4 cost estimate. The two potential locations were assessed for the best option for a major expansion, and it was determined both sites met the basic criteria.

Matrix PDM provided expert recommendations based on technical details, cost, and schedule comparisons of the two terminal locations. The summary report included scope and methodology, technical study, cost and schedule, and general site comparisons.

The methodology used for the study included site visits and walkthrough to identify the present condition of each site and interviews with terminal personnel to gather operational information. Conceptual layouts were prepared and reviewed with the client before proceeding with the study. Matrix PDM performed the FEED and capacity simulations, prepared an Opinion of Probable Cost, and provided risk evaluations and cost risk analyses for both terminal options.

Matrix PDM worked diligently with the client to keep them informed and in control through all phases of the project. Through weekly status reports and progressive meetings, the project team enabled the client to make key project decisions in order to keep work on schedule and within budget.
