Sea-3 – LPG Storage Upgrade

Matrix PDM Engineering designed the expansion of the existing LPG storage facility for Sea-3, the largest importer and distributor of liquefied propane in the Northeastern United States.
Matrix PDM Engineering worked with a local construction company to provide an EPC project solution for the client. The project consisted of converting the facility into a truck and barge loading facility with outbound metering with inbound rates of 10,000 bbl/hour and outbound rates of 7,500 bbl/hour.
Scope of Work
- Provided all PLC programming and process development, as well as operating description and piping
- Specified and supplied all instruments, sensors, control and relief valves
- Procurement for all instrumentation and controls, two new pumps, barge loading equipment, hoses, crane and on-dock vapor separator vessel with connection to existing truck loading vapor control system
- Designed interconnecting piping, structural supports and equipment foundations
- Design activity included the installation of two new vertical turbine pumps, along with product and vapor piping to and from the new barge dock facility. Also, all interconnecting piping, structural supports and equipment foundations associated with the pump installations were provided
- Piping interconnection was provided to connect to the previously installed LPG storage, heating, vapor recovery, and ship unloading facility that had previously completed by Matrix PDM Engineering
